Japan Meteorological Agency institutes Hot Weather Warning System

The Japan Meteorological Agency began issuing "Extreme High Temperature Forecasts and Warnings" last week to prevent people from suffering heat stroke due to turning off their air conditioners as part of the "save energy movement."  The alerts will cover all of Japan except Hokkaido and Okinawa.

The JMA also advises taking water and salt frequently, screening direct sunlight, and monitoring indoor temperatures.
