Hi, little girl. Want some candy?

A woman in Edmonton is outraged after members of a church approached her child in a play area offering candy and a Bible verse, and promising the girl more candy if she memorized the passage.  Evidently these church-going nitwits have never heard that strangers approaching children with offers of sweets is just a little bit totally fucking creepy.  According to Kathleen Crowe, her nine year-old was playing in MacEwan Park when she was approached by a couple from the Victory Christian Center.

Church representatives declined to be interviewed, but released a statement saying: "The program is based on something churches have been doing for more than 20 years throughout Canada and the U.S. ... Our team was given the OK to do this and that's what was done."  In fact, the church has a permit allowing it to host activities like crafts and singing, but not for handling out religious materials.
